Applying to The Sage School
Our application is entirely online. To begin your child’s application, simply click on the “APPLY” button. You will be asked to create an account with a username and password. By having the account, you are able to complete the application all at one time or return to complete it after gathering all the necessary information. This will also allow the Admission Office to directly communicate with you on needed items or follow up on next steps.
Student Visit Days
Once an application is submitted, the Admission Office will invite prospective students for one to two formal Student Visit Days. These visits are intended for applicants to experience a typical school day and meet other students and teachers. During one visit, a faculty member will meet with your child for an academic assessment to get a sense of where your child is academically. The assessment is informal, age-appropriate, and allows the child to share their skills in literacy, mathematics, and creative thinking. Assessments generally run about 30 minutes to one hour depending upon the child’s age. Applicants visiting in Grades 3 through 7 will partner with a Student Ambassador who will accompany them throughout the day, making introductions and shadowing their schedule. The student visit days are a requirement for admission to The Sage School. During the summer, students have the option of attending our summer program for a day in place of the school year visit day.
Standardized Testing
Students applying to Kindergarten and Grade 1 will take an age-appropriate online admission test designed by Admission Testing Solutions which assesses their early literacy, verbal reasoning, mathematics and quantitative reasoning skills. There is a $175 fee for this test paid directly to ATS. For families applying for financial aid, a code is provided for a reduced fee.
All applicants for Grades 2 through 8 are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE), a standardized entrance exam that is widely used by independent schools. The ISEE is offered through the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). The Sage School is an ERB testing center and offers testing on several weekend dates throughout the year for groups of students, as well as individual testing appointments. You do not need to be a Sage applicant to register for group test dates. If you are applying to The Sage School and would like to test on another date, we are happy to schedule a weekday test for your child. The cost for the ISEE ranges from $125 to $225 dependinng on where the student takes the tes and who administers it. The fee is paid directly to ERB. For families applying for financial aid, fee waivers may be provided. For more information on ERB tests or to register for testing, visit https://www.erblearn.org.
The Sage School does accept other standardized tests in place of the ISEE or the K-1 test. To learn more, see the tab below or contact the admission office at admission@sageschool.org or at 508-543-9619.
Teacher Evaluations and School Transcripts
Teacher evaluations are a standard form from the Association of Independent Schools of New England. Teachers are asked to complete this form and send it directly to the Admissions Office at The Sage School. These forms are confidential between your child’s teachers and Sage. They help us see work habits and social behaviors, as well as academic mastery at their current grade level.
