Alayna graduated from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island where she received her B.A. in Elementary Education. She worked with all grade levels in a variety of school districts throughout Rhode Island. She also minored in Spanish while traveling to Chile where she attended classes at Valparaiso University. This past year, Alayna obtained her M.Ed. in Language and Literacy from Lesley University. In addition to learning some of education’s best practices, she also played lacrosse for the Roger Williams Women’s lacrosse team for four years. Familiar with the area, she was born and raised in Norwood where she still currently lives and coaches for the Norwood girls high school lacrosse team. She enjoys being part of the wonderful Sage community!

Ashley Thorup joins The Sage School as an Upper School Humanities teacher after recently relocating from Montréal, Canada. She holds a B.A. with Honours in English Literature from Vancouver Island University, as well as an M.A. in English Literature and an M.A. in Teaching and Learning from McGill University. Over the course of her career, she has primarily taught 7th and 8th grade students at an independent day and boarding school. Her teaching is grounded in student-centered learning that encourages intellectual curiosity, agency, voice, and confidence. Outside of the classroom, you can find Ashley in nature — either trail running, cycling, or cross-country skiing.
