Upper School (Grades 6-8) Social Studies Teacher
Melanie is joining us from the Washington D.C. region, where she worked as a language arts and social studies teacher at a gifted school in Herndon, VA. She is originally from Georgia, but, as a military spouse, she has called Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Virginia “home.” Over her diverse and exciting 10-year teaching career, Melanie has taught advanced placement secondary students, special education primary students, college-level learners, and working professionals. She holds a B.A. in History from Georgia Southern University, a M.A. in Teaching from Cameron University, and recently earned an Instructional Design graduate certificate from Northeastern University. She has two decades of volunteer experience with military organizations and served as a Military Family Group Leader and a Military Program Facilitator at the Army War College in Carlisle, PA. You’ll find Melanie spending her free time with her family, watching countless hours of baseball games and horseback riding lessons, or enjoying the historic sites, culture, and seafood New England offers. She is very excited to be a part of The Sage School community!
