Eleven members of our Model UN Team participated in the MUN Global Leadership Conference held at The Omni Parker House and Suffolk University Law School in downtown Boston on October 1, 2017. Sage was one of twenty schools in attendance.
In this “coaching” conference that focused on the topic of child refugees, students were paired with a mentor – either a business or legal professional or a collegiate MUN expert – with whom he or she consulted in preparation for the conference, with specific attention to the delegate’s public speaking, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
Though students were divided into middle school and high school committee groups, two of our eighth grade students, Michael F. of Mansfield and Miles K. of West Bridgewater, chose to attend a high school committee room where they held their own with older, more experienced members!
“It was certainly a great learning experience for new and veteran Sage MUNers!” noted Patrick McManus, Sage Humanities Teacher and Model UN Faculty Leader.
Special congratulations to 8th grader Julia W. of Holliston and 7th grader Ellis S. of Sharon for winning “best delegate” in their respective committee!
