
Sage Students Excel at MathCounts Competition
The Sage School’s MathCounts team showcased their exceptional mathematical skills at this year’s MetroSouth Massachusetts Chapter competition, earning top rankings in multiple categories. In the Sprint and Target rounds, Albert Xu secured 2nd place, and Landon X. placed 4th, demonstrating their strong problem-solving abilities. The team of Albert X., Landon X., Albert Y., and Shanuk K. dominated the Team round, finishing in first place overall! Their outstanding strategic thinking set them apart as the top-performing team in the region.
The excitement continued into the Countdown round. Among all the competitors, the final three students left standing were Landon X., Albert X., and Shanuk K. After an intense battle of quick calculations and sharp reasoning, Landon emerged as the overall winner, securing another impressive victory for The Sage School.
Additionally, in the State Mathcounts Competition Sage’s team ranked in the top 40% of teams, placing 6th overall. Individually, Landon (23rd) and Albert X. (28th) finished in the top 25% of competitors statewide.
Ms. Dhillon, the MathCounts team leader, expressed how proud she is of the students’ hard work and dedication, saying, “Their enthusiasm and perseverance are truly inspiring. It’s incredible to see them push themselves, collaborate, and excel at such a high level.” A quote that resonates with her and continues to motivate the team is: “Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.” – Shakuntala Devi.
These achievements highlight The Sage School’s dedication to academic excellence and its commitment to fostering a love for math and problem-solving. At the MetroSouth Massachusetts Chapter level, Albert X. placed 2nd, Landon X. 4th, Albert Y. 14th, and Shanuk K. 20th, all ranking in the top 25% of competitors.
