VIRTUAL PERFORMANCE 080922

Sagers Awarded for Virtual Theater Performances

The Arts Department at Sage believes in the importance of constructivism and the application of real world influences. Students at Sage are continuously making connections between their world and the world around them and the arts provide a safe space for gifted and talented students to step outside of their comfort zone and try something new.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, in-lieu of in-person performances, students in the 7th and 8th grade created two virtual performances this past spring. “The Box” created by students in their acting elective, explores the boxes that we individually place ourselves in. “Theatrical Experiences: Visions of Hope” created in the afterschool theatrical experience club, features socially distanced scenes that are collected from existing plays from theatrefolk.com.

“The Box” was featured at The METG: Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild Virtual Festival and streamed on their site. Students have also received accolades in excellence in acting, sound design, and film editing! A broadcast of the awards can also be found on the METG website.
