The Sage School’s Inspiring Minds Virtual Gala and Auction held on Saturday, April 4 was a record-breaking success, raising over $100,000 to support the school’s advanced academic programs for students in Preschool to Grade 8. Three weeks prior to the event, the Gala Committee shifted to accommodate a virtual format with speeches made through Facebook Live, YouTube videos, virtual paddle raises, a virtual wine wall and silent auction. “I would like to commend The Sage School parents who have been so supportive with their contributions and participation,” says Courtney Pupkin, Director of Annual Giving. “The school can and will continue to do a wonderful job for the children in this trying time.”
This year’s gala honored longtime Sage community members and alumni parents, Suzanne McGilvray and Jose Alvarez P ’06, ’08, ’14. Sue and Jose’s time at Sage has spanned over 18 years with José serving on the Board of Trustees from 2004 – 2009 and Sue serving from 2012 – 2020. For the past six years, Sue has served in the role of Board Chair. In their professional lives, Sue worked as an accounting manager in the financial services industry. For the past twelve years, José has served on the faculty of Harvard Business School. Prior to his work at Harvard, he was president and CEO of Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover.
